While the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, I continue to walk outside to help maintain my physical and mental well-being. I feel energized by my brisk walks while dodging pedestrians to maintain social distancing. When it is safe to do so, I take off my mask and slow down. I pay attention to my breathing and to my body movement. I become more aware of my surroundings and engage my senses. A mindful walk in nature enhances my feeling of well-being. This restorative opening of the senses and the appreciation of the present moment underlies the series Mindful Walking. Silk from a Dupioni sample book, monoprints or other paper and fabrics were either sewn or glued onto Mi-Teintes Art Boards. Layers were built up and then often cut away. The colour and texture were further enhanced by the addition of beads, glass, birch bark, stones, and thread.
